I've never had gel x or builder gel — what's the difference?
Gel X is a soft-gel extension (a pre-shaped tip bonded with gel) that adds length and shape. Builder gel is a thicker gel applied over your natural nail (or with a small extension) for strength without acrylic. Both are lightweight, low-odor, and much gentler than traditional acrylic.
How long does a set last?
Most clients get 3–4 weeks before a fill. Lifespan depends on aftercare — gloves for cleaning, oil daily, and no using your nails as tools.
What should I expect at my first appointment?
Plan for 1.5–2.5 hours depending on your service. I'll chat about shape, length, and color, do gentle prep, then apply your set. Bring a charged phone, water — and arrive 5 minutes early.
Are children welcome?
The studio is a quiet, one-on-one space. I ask that children not attend appointments unless they are the client being served, so everyone gets a calm experience.
What's the deposit and cancellation policy?
Normally a $25 non-refundable deposit secures your booking and applies toward your service — but right now deposits are waived as a special, so you can book with nothing upfront. I still need 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule.
Do you offer bridal or event packages?
Yes — bridal trials, wedding-day sets, and small bridal-party bookings are available by request. Email hey@girlienailbar.com with your date and party size for a custom quote.
Do you remove work from other salons?
Yes. Removal of gel, builder gel, acrylic, or Gel X applied elsewhere is $30. If you rebook a new set with me the same day, removal is $15.
Is gel safe during pregnancy?
Generally yes — my products are low-odor and I work in a well-ventilated suite — but I recommend you check with your doctor first.

Deposits
A $25 non-refundable booking deposit is normally required to secure all appointments and applied toward the total cost of your service. ✨ Special: deposits are waived for now — just book and show up!
Cancellations
I require at least 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations within 24 hours forfeit the booking deposit. Things come up — just let me know as early as you can.
Late arrivals
Please arrive on time. There is a 15-minute grace period. Arrivals more than 15 minutes late may be rescheduled and the deposit forfeited.
No-shows
Missed appointments without notice forfeit the full deposit. After 2 no-shows, full prepayment is required for future bookings.
Service guarantee
If a nail lifts, chips, or breaks within 5 days under normal wear, I'll repair it at no charge. Contact me within 5 days and come in within 10 days for a complimentary fix.
Removal of other salon's work
Removal of gel, builder gel, acrylics, or Gel X applied elsewhere is $30. Removal is $15 when you rebook a new set with me the same day.
Health + allergies
Please let me know before your appointment if you have any allergies, skin sensitivities, open wounds, or are taking medications that affect your skin or nails.
Pregnancy
Gel products are generally considered safe during pregnancy, but I recommend consulting your doctor before booking if you are pregnant or nursing.
Children & guests
The studio is a quiet, one-on-one space. I ask that children and extra guests not attend appointments so everyone gets a calm experience.
Payments
Card, Apple Pay, and Google Pay accepted on the day of your appointment via GlossGenius. Tips appreciated but never expected.
Photo + social media
I may photograph your finished nails for my portfolio and social media. No faces are ever shown. Let me know before your appointment if you'd prefer not to be photographed.
Tips
Tips are always appreciated but never expected. Cash, Venmo, and card tips are all accepted. Thank you for supporting a small business.
Refunds
I do not offer refunds for completed services. If you're not satisfied, contact me within 5 days and I'll make it right through my service guarantee.
Licensing
Girlie Nail Bar is operated by a California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology licensed nail technician. License information available on request.
